Project Description

In 2016 Schiphol Airport launched a Capital Development Programme, with the new Terminal A as its centerpiece, in order to improve the capacity and quality of the services and to reinforce its position as one of Europe’s preferred Hub Airports. An international design competition process was initiated to select an Integrated Design and Planning Team that deliver a concept that best complies with the highest standards and ambitions set out by Schiphol Airport.

The project’s main objective was to provide a masterplan-, a concept- and a detailed design for the new terminal that is fully integrated in its actual and future environment at Schiphol. The set-out key ambitions to comply with were Passenger-centricity; excellent processes; future-proofness and sustainability.

planeground in cooperation with the KL-AIR Consortium delivered planning and consultancy services for the initial design phases i.e. masterplan-, concept- and preliminary design phase of Terminal A. In addition planeground has been involved in the EEW (early enabling works) project, which is set up to guarantee a timely delivery of the Terminal. Furthermore the engagement comprised of stakeholder management support, design interface coordination, quality control and fast time simulation modelling.
